Cicadascape
Cicadascape was created and recorded throughout the 2021 summer. I recorded the constant obnoxious drone of the infamous 17-year brood of cicadas chirping away in my backyard and morphed it into a peaceful soundscape.
To create this sound scape, I used Logic Pro X for all of my audio effects and mastering. Part of the purpose of this piece was to mess around with equalization and decided to mess around with the 17-year brood of cicadas. Living near a busy intersection and down the street from an airport, I have all sorts of random extraneous noises. These extra noises such as cars passing by, birds chirping, the wind, etc provided some unique effects and really brought out the drone of cicadas as I messed around with the balancing within the equalization effects in Logic.
This was the first time I ever fused natural sounds around me within my music. With A Day at Sea, I made the wave sounds artificially in Ableton. It was very interesting and inspiring to see how music is all around us if we look in the right places!
